Doctoral student Justine Drobitch will spend six months interning in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the 2018-19 academic year. Her internship is funded by the National Science Foundation’s Non-Academic Research Internships for Graduate Students (INTERN) program. Her adviser is Supriyo Bandyopadhyay, Ph.D., Commonwealth Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

At NIST, Drobitch will grow and characterize magnetic materials for use as highly spin-polarized contacts for novel spintronic photodetectors. She will work with NIST’s Functional Nanostructured Materials Group.

“I am very grateful and excited for this opportunity,” Drobitch said. “Both the people and facilities at NIST are some of the best in the field. I can't wait to learn as much as possible and gain invaluable experience in preparation for my future professional career.”
